My Story
My beekeeping experience started in 2005 as an educational tool when my wife and I were homeschooling our children. I built an observational hive so that they could see the bees at work to help them understand how a beehive worked. The more we taught them the more I came to realize the importance of bees for life here on earth.
I was hooked!!
My goal is to take great care of my own hives as naturally as possible. I extract the honey, being sure to leave lots for the bees. Gravity strain the bee bits out and into jars within 48 hours. This method preserves all the nutrients & enzymes, the great stuff that is in honey. I don't buy honey from any other honey producers. All the honey I sell is from my own hives, so there is a limited supply. Basically this is honey from the hive to the jar with minimal intervention.

While working in the Birthing Unit, I found a passion for supporting women through
their birth experience and in 2004, started “Serenity Birth Studio”. For the next 11 years taught Lamaze childbirth, new mommy classes and spent many late nights learning about and sourcing safe, natural products for pregnancy & newborns.
In 2005, our beekeeping endeavour began. Over the years Kevin learned more about beekeeping and I played with the amazing raw ingredients the bees gave us. Being highly sensitive to synthetic ingredients and harsh preservatives, honey, beeswax, propolis, herbs, flowers and plants became my go-to skincare options. Having 3 children, we experienced ADHD, food sensitivities, asthma, eczema, allergies etc and through it all we learned and embraced natural options.
In 2021 (after retiring from firefighting), Kevin took his hobby to a business level and today, 2024, it has grown to almost 100 hives. I too am now a beekeeper, working with and learning from Kevin and the bees in the bee yards (which is an amazing place to be).
Beamish Honey Botanicals is our line of skincare products using simple ingredients that are fresh, natural and include our raw honey, beeswax or propolis in the formulations. We are just getting started, there is more to come!

Our products are registered with Health Canada and our handcrafting follows GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) endorsed by the Government of Canada. Made in small batches to ensure the freshness of our products.

How the ingredients are processed is just as important. By handcrafting, we control the manufacture of our products. We strive to maintain purity without negative effects on the ingredients. This ensures full retention of their beneficial properties.
